Data Protection Units
The DPU/DPV series is a complete family of innovative, integrated
disk-to-disk (D2D)
appliances that affordably protect and restore critical data and
systems.
Units are available to provide protection to everything from a small
operation all the way up to a large enterprise. And with our
unique Lifetime
Upgrade program, your investment is protected as your
operation grows. If you want to archive to removeable disk -
we do that! Archive to tape - we do that as well!
Archive electronically to a remote unit (vaulting) - we do that!
We even offer Vault
to Cloud where your valuable data is archived to a remotely
hosted data storage facility.
Rapid recovery solutions provides unmatched protection through a
single, powerful user interface for systems, applications and data
running on over 40 operating systems. With solutions for local backup
and off-site vaulting, the DPU family eliminates the need for
multi-vendor software and hardware by delivering the reliable,
affordable data protection small and mid-sized businesses need.

Local Protection
At the heart of the system is the local Data Protection
Unit™, or
DPU. It connects to your LAN, and provide disk-to-disk (D2D),
high-speed data backup and disaster recovery. Snapshots of
your
servers' operating systems, complete with passwords, permissions and
settings, are routinely taken at user-defined intervals (without the
need to first shut down the servers) and sent to the DPU.
This
allows near-instantaneous recovery of deleted or corrupted files and
folders…and more.
BareMetal™Recovery
These fast, integrated appliances also provide BareMetal™
restoration of entire failed servers, putting your mission-critical
systems back in business in as little as an hour instead of several
days. (BareMetal provides sector/track level data protection
that
avoids the need to format drives, load OSs and reinstall applications.
It can also recover a failed system to new hardware that may not match
the original system configuration—often necessary in a true
disaster.)
Application Support
Today, many core business applications have unique backup requirements
that must be addressed to get reliable and consistent backups, and
optimal recovery options. Each DPU includes application-specific backup
technology with support for Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft SQL servers
and other applications.
Adaptive Deduplication
Data protection units offer Adaptive Deduplication. Adaptive
deduplication is a hybrid data reduction technology that combines
inline compression with post-processing data deduplication. The major
differentiating feature of Adaptive Deduplication is that it does not
require expensive dedicated hardware; it operates on affordable backup
appliances.
Enterprise-level cloud backup capabilities at an insanely aggressive
price. We didn't sign up for some backup software with Amazon,
Microsoft, or any of the myriad other commodity cloud storage
solutions; instead we invested in an "enterprise level" solution.

iseReduced data reduction
iseReduced is our advanced compression technology that typically
provides from 2-to-1 to 4-to-1 and greater data reduction with
absolutely no ingest rate performance penalties and with no overhead on
the computers which are being protected. iseReduced works by taking the
data stream from the computer being protected and creating large
segments of data upon which compression is invoked. Since compression
is more efficient on larger blocks of data, we achieve a higher
compression ratio than others.
iseReduced Details
iseReduced is a variable byte-by-byte compression scheme that has a
storage overhead of 0.03% plus 6-bytes per stream. This
practically works out to 5 bytes per 16KB block. It can be
used
on any size file; practically you’ll get compression rates
after
a few tens of bytes.
The theoretical compression limit is 1032:1. The actual
compression is dependent upon data and file size.
Incrypt Data Encryption
The threat of misappropriated data has never been greater. At the same
time, conventional encryption takes a heavy toll on the performance and
ease-of-use of your information technology infrastructure. Incrypt
offers a solution for regulatory compliance as well as internal
corporate standards that does not cause a burden on systems or people.
Incrypt performs 256-bit AES encryption on the on-premise appliance
rather than on the computers being protected. Any rotational archiving
or electronic vaulting of that data stays encrypted.
Whether the threat is as simple as employee physical theft or as
complex as targeted hacking of your systems, Incrypt has you covered.
Proactive monitoring
Problems Handled Before the Customer Sees Them!
Proactive monitoring is a service that allows us to detect early signs
of hardware, system, and environmental issues with respect to backup
and disaster recovery. This service is offered at no cost and
is
available for all support levels.
This proactive monitoring service works by sending us an event alert
from a customer’s environment via our backup appliance. Then,
we
categorize, monitor, and manage these events using SolarWinds Orion
Network Performance Monitor (NPM) solution. Critical events are flagged
and a customer engineer is notified and a case is opened. The customer
engineer then calls the customer and begins work on resolving the issue.
A Complete Solution
Removable disks allow archiving at a nearby safe location.
And
our family of Data
Protection Vaults™
fill out the picture with
electronic, medialess, offsite vaulting for all your data and systems.
If you prefer not to operate your own remote protection
facility,
we also offer our "Vault to
Cloud" service, a cloud-based optional off-premise disaster
recovery service that
complements the data protection of the on-premise appliances for our
customers who want disaster recovery but do not want to own and operate
their own dedicated off-premise vaulting appliances. For only $0.49 per
GigaByte per month. you can choose to have your vital data
electronically duplicated at a secure SAS 70 certified facility.
We
offer features that allow our customers to take advantage of quickly
getting their on-premise appliances protected off-site and that allow
those customers to quickly recover their data in the case of a disaster
via next-day shipping with a “reduplicated”
replacement appliance.
Together, it’s a fully integrated data protection and
disaster
recovery system—powerful, easy to use, and
affordable.
Enterprise-class protection for the rest of us.
Our backup
appliances aren't for people who are bored
and need something to do!

|
Our backup appliances are designed
from the ground-up to provide the lowest total cost of ownership in the
industry.
If you have too much time on your
hands and are
interested in "playing around" with hardware, software, storage,
networks, and the like - and you're not worried about calling a backup
and recovery vendor when you have a problem that points fingers at the
operating system vendor who points fingers at the application server
vendor who points fingers at the storage vendor who points
fingers...well, you get the point - then we aren't for you.
If on the other hand you'd rather do
other things
than babysit backup and recovery all day (and all night) - then we
think we have the best backup appliance offering there is.
